Purcell, Henry - 20 Keyboard Pieces (Book & CD)

This is the first publication of the 20 pieces by Henry Purcell written, in the composer's own hand, in a manuscript discovered in 1993 and now in the British Library. In fact there are 21 pieces altogether in this edition as a version of Gibbons's well-known Prelude (from Parthenia) was included by Purcell for an important pedagogical reason. Clearly intended as an instruction book for a keyboard beginner.
