The 'Chaconne' for bajan with free-bass mode is not as much of a sequence of variations on an ostinato idea as is the classic chaconne. On the contrary, it is the character of the music alone that bears a certain resemblance to the chaconne since the work is based on an interrupted harmonic ostinato.
