Stephen Sondheim is well-known for his compositions for Broadway and the silver screen, but whilst many are familiar with tunes such as Everything's Coming Up Roses (Gypsy), I Feel Pretty (West Side Story), Send In The Clowns (A Little Night Music) and Not a Day Goes By (Merrily We Roll Along), they may be surprised to find that he wrote many more songs that never made it onto the stage.

This collection contains 39 previously unpublished songs from 17 shows and films, including pieces cut from Anyone Can Whistle, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Into The Woods, Merrily We Roll Along, Wise Guys and more. Each piece is arranged for Piano and Voice with Guitar chords.

The 'Almost Unknown' in the title of this collection refers to the fact that some of the songs, though never before published, have been recorded, and might be known to the most knowledgeable of Sondheim connoisseurs. However, it is safe to say that the songs in this landmark collection are among the least known of Sondheim's creations.
