Alessandro Spazzoli was born in Forlì in 1964 and studied composition with Leonardo Lollini, Claudio Josè Boncompagni and Gilberto Cappelli, graduating ‘full honours’ at the Cesena Conservatoire. He has been guest in several editions of the festival ‘Metamorfosi del contemporaneo’ in Cesena, where his compositions for chamber ensemble have been conducted by Alberto Caprioli and Francesco La Licata.

Spazzoli also graduated in flute at the Bologna Conservatoire, then attended specialization classes by Angelo Faja and Mario Ancillotti at the Scuola di Musica in Fiesole, and studied with Severino Gazzelloni at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He has won prizes in various national and international flute competitions and has been a member of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana.
Some of his compositions entered steadily in the repertoire of several chamber groups. His guitar pieces are regularly performed by the dedicatee, Piero Bonaguri.
Spazzoli recently won the first prize at the ‘Concorso Internazionale di Musica Sacra’ in Castagneto Carducci (Livorno, Italy).
