Written by songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, True Colours was submitted to Cyndi Lauper who reworked it and released it on her album of the same name. The song reached the no. 1 position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and has since become a classic, being covered by many artists including Phil Collins and, more recently, the cast of the hit TV show, Glee.
