This is the twenty-second volume of the Josef Strauss Edition, the first complete series of his dance music to be recorded. “I am running out of superlatives for the various Strauss series on Marco Polo” (American Record Guide).



Compared with that of his brother Johann Strauss II, Josef’s output was not large, and the works that remain in the concert repertoire are far fewer. As with previous volumes this disc contains a mix of the familiar and totally unknown Josef Strauss, giving us some of the most scintillating music from the ballrooms of the 19th century.
