This Third Music Writing Book follows on consistently from The Second Music Writing Book. By continuing to work through the contents under the guidance of a teacher it is hoped that the pupil will enjoy reading, writing, and harmonizing music inteligently. When he becomes aware of the simple chords and chord progressions implied in the carefully chosen melodies, the keyboard player should be able to exploit his playing technique to create musical accompaniments, whilst still maintaining a high standard of text-book harmony. This section of the book could be used as an introduction to transposition, both written and played, and to keyboard harmony. The pupil is advised therefore, to memorise the melodies with their harmonic progressions, and to play them in various keys.
