SPIRITS
Lars Hannibal, guitar
Chen Yue, flute

About
When Eastern and Western musical cultures meet, an original blend is created. This CD features the Chinese flautist Chen Yue and the Danish guitarist Lars Hannibal. Coming from different traditions, the two artists decided to see what comes out of the dialogue when musicians from the two traditions play together. The selection of music includes works from ancient China, European Baroque music and popular and folk music from both Asia and Europe.

Though there are many differences in the music, there is a lot of similarity in atmosphere that suits the mellow sound of the two instruments.

Reviews
A heady mix of two cultures produces a rich soundscape
(Limelight, Australia)

This release is both highly listenable and fascinating in terms of the cultural meeting points it represents.
