EMIL HARTMANN
Orchestral Works
Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra

Bo Holten, conductor

Emil Hartmann, composer

About
The composer Emil Hartmann (1836-1898) experienced great success when touring Europe to conduct performances of his own works. But in his native Denmark he was largely overshadowed by his own father, the famous J.P.E. Hartmann. This CD recording features some of his most popular works, including world premieres of the entertaining pieces "Nordic Folk Dances" and "A Carnival Feast".

Reviews
You'll find all sorts of nice touches in all departments of the orchestra, and the Copenhagen Philharmonic makes the most of them.
(Limelight Magazine)

(**** Jyllands-Posten)

Hartmann´s Nordic Folk Dances...are very charming, colorfully scored, and unfailingly pleasent.
(Classics Toady, David Hurwitz)

(Musikeren, 12/2006)

The sound is rich and powerful ... and the performances are bigger than life, full of color and immersed in an intoxicating intensity.
(Laurence Vittes, Audiophile Audition)

(**** Politiken, Jan Jacoby)

Un disque très plaisant, vraiment!
(Classics Today France, Christophe Huss)

(High Fidelity, 02/2207)

The sound is rich and powerful ... The performances are bigger than life, full of color and immersed in an intoxicating intensity.
