Les Amis de Philippe, Ludger Rémy (dir.)

Johann Friedrich Fasch (1688-1758) was regarded by many music scholars in the 1900s as one of the most outstanding contemporaries of J.S Bach and an important link between the Baroque and Classical periods. It is only now, and thanks to labels such as CPO, that people are taking an interest in Fasch and his music can be recorded and appreciated.

This new disc presents the recording premieres of six sumptuous orchestral works. The works were most probably written for the Dresden court ensemble to take advantage of the large orchestral forces available at the time.

Ludger Rémy is an esteemed international conductor and one of the leading conductors in the revival and rediscovery of early German music. He has won numerous international CD prizes, including a nomination for the Cannes Classical Award 1997 with Les Amis de Philippe Orchestra.
