When the Norwegian composer Christian Sinding introduced his young friend Frederick Delius to Edvard Grieg in Leipzig in 1887, it was to be a memorable occasion for each of them. It was the beginning of a deep personal friendship that survived until death claimed them. Many of their letters are here published for the first time; Dr Carley has not only edited them, but created a biographical double portrait.
