This new collection of works for piano and chamber strings brings with it an emotional intensity that looks set to cement Alexis' reputation as a composer of rare and contemplative beauty - with powerful contrasts, epic landscapes and, above all, timeless melodies.

The delicate, motivic interplay between parts is at times reminiscent of Fauré, while the graceful minimalism recalls more recent works, such as that of Max Richter and Clark’s Black Stone from his 2012 release Iradelphic on Warp Records.

Stolen Lullabies also includes four brand new bonus arrangements of some of the highlights from his previous albums, The Secret Piano and Piano Karma, both of which were 'Albums of the Week' on Classic FM Radio and have gone on to enjoy great popularity with Classic FM listeners.

About the Composer
Alexis A. Ffrench is a classical pianist, improviser and composer of rare distinction. "The combination of these gifts gives his performances an arresting individuality and an air of spontaneous sensitivity to a degree which is rarely heard nowadays. In recitals and concertos he has proved to be a born performer, responding at his best before an audience. He has a true performers flair and his playing is marked by an inspired individuality, a quality that has been rarer and rarer in recent times.

A church organist aged 7, Alexis made his concert debut at the Royal Academy of Music, London, at the age of 11 performing a complete programme of his own music. An alumnus of the Purcell School of Music, Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Alexis first came to prominence as a solo classical pianist in 1992 as a result of winning the first Portobello Concert Artists Award. In the same year he made his Concerto debut as part of Sir Simon Rattle’s Towards the Millennium series at the Royal Festival Hall, London.
