'In 1975, in letters to Robert Orledge, Sir Adrian Boult recalled meeting Fauré and hearing him play at the London home of Leo Frank Schuster on several occasions between 1906 and 1908… Although arrangements of the piece have long existed for piano, flute and piano, SATB and piano, or even two female voice parts and piano, this is the first edition to combine flute, solo voices and piano in a manner as described by Sir Adrian.'
