Andy Scott was commissioned by the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester UK, to compose a work for a concert marking the retirement of RNCM Principal, Professor Edward Gregson in 2008. And Everything is Still was inspired by a poem by Lemn Sissay from his children’s book, The Emperor’s Watch Maker.

A simple melody unravels alongside a calm and gentle atmosphere. Originally scored for Flute and Piano, Andy asked James Fieldhouse to arrange And Everything Is Still for Foden's Brass Band, featuring the solo tenor horn of Lesley Howie.

"Lesley plays And Everything Is Still so beautifully, with control and emotion, that I wanted to make a Tenor Horn and Piano version available. The key is different from the Brass Band feature, which can be heard on the award-winning CD A World Within (World of Brass)" Andy Scott
