This album is a fusion of opera guide and documentary, featuring commentary, expert analysis, and highlights from notable RING productions. The acclaimed documentary, already released as Bonus in the “Ring - Thielemann - Box” now in the FULL LENGTH Version, and in HD quality in a 2 Blu-ray Disc set. There are 4 documentaries of 90 minutes in length about Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, each documentary about one of the operas: Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung.

The 4 documentary films were directed by acclaimed producer Eric Schulz, complementing the audio recordings, providing an introduction, commentary and analysis by experts, including conductor Christian Thielemann. The documentaries also feature political scientist Udo Bermach, literary scholar Dieter Borchmeyer, musicologists Laurence Dreyfus and Stephan Mösch and journalist Elke Heidenreich. Also featuring writer Friedrich Dieckmann and pianist Stefan Mickisch.

Featuring excerpts from productions from Bayreuth (Chéreau/Boulez and Kupfer/Barenboim), the Palau de les Arts "Reina Sofia" in Valencia (La Fura dels Baus/Mehta) and the Vienna State Opera (Bechtolf/Thielemann).
