John Adams: new autobiography & CD retrospective

John Adams: new autobiography & CD retrospective
Hallelujah Junction is the title both of John Adams' long-awaited autobiography, and a new 2-CD retrospective of his work.

John Adams is one of the most admired & performed living composers. A musician of enormous range & technical command, he has built a huge audience worldwide through the immediacy & sincerity of his music.

"Hallelujah Junction: Composing an American Life" isn’t so much an autobiography as a fascinating journey through the musical landscape of his life & times, centred around the highly controversial operas based on social & political issues he has written in the past 25 years – Nixon in China, The Death of Klinghoffer.

Released to accompany the autobigraphy, the double-CD set "Hallelujah Junction: A Nonesuch Retrospective" serves as a best-of collection that chronicles the composer's career and points up the breadth and depth of Adams' contribution to American musical life in the late twentieth and early twenty first centuries.

Also new this month: the CD of John Adams' opera "A Flowering Tree".
