Composer's Notes

The Welsh Millennium Centre commissioned In These Stones Horizons Sing for the Royal Gala Concert that opened, in November 2004, what is essentially the new home of the Welsh National Opera, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen. The piece features, as soloists, Bryn Terfel [bass-baritone], Catrin Finch [harp] and Nigel Hitchcock [soprano saxophone]. The work is in four main movements with the first in two parts.

Three eminent Welsh poets, Grahame Davies, Menna Elfyn and Gwyneth Lewis, wrote the text, a mixture of English and Welsh.
