(September 2002)

Louis Andriessen is recognised as the Netherlands' greatest living composer. His music draws on influences ranging from Stravinsky, Berio and Cage to be-bop, jazz and political street music and he also has a dynamic relationship with other art froms including film, visual arts and literature.

Linked with a major 2002 festival in London, 'Passion: The Music of Louis Andriessen', Boosey & Hawkes collaborated with the South Bank Centre on a CD-ROM exploring Andriessen, his music and his influences through video, audio, text and games. For your free copy of the CD-ROM please email Boosey & Hawkes.

Festival highlights included the world premiere of Andriessen's new work for violin, voice and ensemble, La Passione, performed by the London Sinfonietta at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. The festival ended with the first UK performance of Andriessen's most recent opera, Writing to Vermeer.
