From 17 to 26 July 2009, individual singers, choristers and ensemble singers can take part in workshops, meet people from all sorts of countries, enjoy singing with top conductors and listening to music. More than 3000 singers are expected to attend.

Europa Cantat XVII features a series of workshops for Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater, culminating in  a perfomance on the 24th of July conducted by Pasi Hyökki (Finland), conductor of the choir featured on the EMI Stabat Mater CD.
