Nine new titles added to the Choral Music Experience series

(September 2016)

newCMEtitlesamended.jpg Doreen Rao’s Choral Music Experience is a culturally diverse and uniquely dynamic choral music series developed for ensemble singing in school, church and community.

The CME series features a broad spectrum of choral writing by distinguished and emerging composers from around the world. A balanced repertoire of traditional classics, serious contemporary and world music to suit all ages and levels of ability.

Doreen Rao’s Choral Music Experience inspires the joy of singing, the development of musicianship and a better understanding of the world around us.

The nine new titles are:

The Rowan Tree (CME Beginning Repertoire)
A traditional Scottish folk song arranged for unison voices and piano by Lee R. Kessselman

¡Cantad al Señor! (CME Latin Accents)
This traditional Brazilian worship song has been included in several North American hymnals in recent years. Arranged for SATB & piano and includes lyrics in Spanish and English

Moments (CME Beginning Repertoire)
David Brunner, known for his beautiful melodies and wonderful accompaniments, has set seven “tiny unison pieces” using haiku text.

Troublemakers (CME Intermediate Repertoire)
This short and apparently flippant glance at divinity is actually a thoughtful assertion: that definitions and concepts of divinity fall short of the reality, which is beyond human understanding. Although scored for unison singers (with optional divisi), this is a challenge for any and all singers.

Two Mozart Classics (CME Building Bridges)
A choral score for mixed choir (SAB) and piano or three clarinets. Singers will build classical era style and performance practice with these charming pieces from 1787. The editions have been adapted for piano (from the original basset horns) and include suggested tempo, breath and dynamics, as well as pronunciation guide, translations and period ornamentation.

Inngiqtuq (CME Intermediate Repertoire)
A soundscape that honors the culture of the Inuit people of the Arctic. Musical references to traditional “throat-singing” and “ay-ya” songs are found in the music. Body percussion - stomping, clapping, chest pounding - and drum will add to the authentic experience this piece brings to singers and audience.

No la Debemos Dormir (CME Holiday Lights)
This gentle ballad, set to a sixteenth-century Spanish text, is scored for two treble voices with guitar accompaniment or optional piano.

Seoithín Seó (CME Celtic Voices)
A traditional Irish lullaby/dandling arranged for unison choir, piano and optional bodhran.

Molly Malone (CME Celtic Voices)
Known as Dublin's “unofficial” anthem, this Irish tune is bright and energetic and captures the warm and generous spirit of the Irish people. Like so many Irish folk songs, this tells an endearing story, one that will capture the imagination of your singers. Scored for upper voices and piano
