The basic ideas for "The Stone House Carol" came to me as I was driving home from a particularly inspiring concert given by a little a cappella singing group, Shenandoah, that had got together whilst at James Allen's Girls' School.



The old French Christmas carol, "Noel Nouvelet" has a beautiful melody and words. It occurred to me that by joining this with the English language Easter carol version, it would be possible to write a piece meditating on the Greatest Love of all.
