Once Upon a Castle (2003; revised 2015) for organ and orchestra is Michael Daugherty's nostalgic trip down memory lane based on his visits to the Hearst Castle, the vision and private residence of American media mogul William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951) on the barren mountains of San Simeon in California. The solo organ part is edited by Grammy Award winning organist Paul Jacobs who also gave the world premiere. Score and solo organ part.
