This piece was inspired by the "Mouth Music" tradition of the Celtic countries where singers who couldn t afford to buy instruments would sing the dance music using nonsense syllables instead. Nick Page plans to compose a series of Mouth Peace works using vocable traditions from around the world as a celebration of our diversity as well as our common themes.

Mouth Peace I combines the West African "language of the drums" as taught by Baba Oluntunji with the Celtic Mouth Music and jazz scat singing. For treble voices in two parts (SS).
