Born in Prague of Jewish-German origin, the career of Erwin Schulhoff (1894-1942), like many others, was prematurely terminated by the rise of the Naziregime in Germany. The contributions made by many of these musicians, including Schulhoff, have largely languished in obscurity ever since, despite their pivotal importance to the development of classical music during the early 20th century.

A selection of Schulhoff’s solo piano works are interpreted here by Margarete Babinsky.

Margarete Babinsky (piano), Maria Lettberg (piano CD 1 tracks 1, 6), Andreas Wykydal (piano CD 1 tracks 1, 7)
