"There are many editions of this lovely Baroque gem on the market, but this is the only one I'm aware of that almost always gives you the notes and articulations that Eccles wrote in the cello part. This version returns us generally to the lightness of feeling in the solo part more characteristic of the style. The continuo part also conforms more closely to the original than other editions. It still would be nice to see an edition that doesn't assume you're playing a piano in the Royal Festival Hall, that remarks on what has been changed from the original, and which allows performers to follow their Baroque sensibilities or present this work in a grander, more modern way."
