Brightly Colored and as Easy as Child’s Play

In “The Tower Worm,” Michael Stahl loses no time in bringing students and teachers together at the very start of students’ piano lessons. The Primo part is easy as pie and does not exceed a range of five notes. Chordal symbols in the Secondo part encourage free accompaniments. The pieces themselves are colorful, ranging from swinging and rocking to humorous and evocative of film music. Titles like “Tastenräuber, “Freibad-Walzer” and “Ketchup Rock” allude to the imaginative journey, and “Der Wurm im Turm” closes the book by making an unforgettable impact. The accompanying CD contains full versions of all pieces and play-alongs both in the original tempo as well as in a slower one for practicing.
