B&H Prints First Jazz Publications -- Chick Corea and David Benoit
(September 2007)B&H is proud to announce the arrival of premiere publications from its roster of jazz composers. Jazz ensembles can now purchase these highly-anticipated new charts from David Benoit and Chick Corea through local retailers with distribution through Hal Leonard.
David Benoit’s laid-back style is apparent with his 6 P.M., a Jobim-esque composition from his chart-topping 2006 CD, “Full Circle.” This special arrangement by Mark Taylor features smooth harmonies and flowing lines in an excellent adaptation for jazz ensemble suitable either for festivals or casual concerts.
Recorded by Chick Corea and Origin on the CD “Change,” Early Afternoon Blues pays tribute to the hard bop era and Miles Davis, in particular, with this modal medium tempo blues. Mark Taylor’s version for young players starts with a small group playing the head before the saxes take over on the second chorus. Including solo space for piano and also a flexible solo section with written samples for all players, this well-written chart will make any band sound polished.
