Recipient of the prestigious Grawemeyer Award in 2007, Sebastian Currier represents the finest in American composition. * He has received many other awards including the Berlin Prize, Rome Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. * Currier's music has been enthusiastically embraced by violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who commissioned and premiered his violin and piano piece Aftersong, and violin concerto, Time Machines. * Members of the Berlin Philharmonic dedicated a full evening to Currier's extensive chamber music output in October 2005, including the premieres of Remix for mixed ensemble and Crossfade for two harps.

Works by Sebastian Currier include:
Time Machines (2007) for violin and orchestra
Piano Concerto (2006) for piano and orchestra
Nightmaze (2005) for chamber ensemble
Next Atlantis (2008) for string quartet
Looking Ahead: This spring and summer, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and pianist Lambert Orkis perform Currier’s Clockwork on tour, bringing the work to Davies Symphony Hall (San Francisco), Symphony Center (Chicago), Carnegie Hall (New York), the Kennedy Center (Washington DC), Konzertsaal (Lubeck, Germany), and Grosses Festspielhaus (Salzburg, Austria).

Currier’s ongoing Etudes and Lullaby Project for string quartet, receives a string of world premieres as quartets continue to join the commission: the Cassatt String Quartet at the Tenri Cultural Institute (Mar 26), Borromeo String Quartet at Carnegie Hall (Oct 20), and Orion String Quartet, presented by Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center (Jan 25, 2018).

In November, his large-scale orchestral work RE-FORMATION receives its world premiere with the Minnesota Orchestra and Osmo Vänskä.
