Peter Cornelius was doubly honored in 1999: the musical world commemorated the 175th anniversary of his birth and the 125th anniversary of his death. His chief publisher Breitkopf & Härtel made an appropriate contribution to the festivities by releasing a meticulously prepared new edition of "Selected Songs" with piano accompaniment as well as a single edition of the famous "Vater unser" (Our Father). Many of Cornelius’ once popular songs can thus delight new generations.
