Bergman, Erik - Singing Tree Swedish/English Vocal Score

The Singing Tree has its starting point in the Swedish folk tale, Prince Hatt in the Underworld. This in turn comes from the story of Cupid and Psyche, as retold by Apuleius in about AD 180. There are some fifteen hundred versions of the legend - some primitive and some sophisticated - all on the theme of the virgin princess who is forbidden to see her lover in the light.
