Charlotte Bray's On The Green was comissioned in 2013 by the Royal Philharmonic Society and Britten-Pears Foundation to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the composer Benjamin Britten and the bicentenary of the Royal Philharmonic Society.

The piece was first performed as part of the Aldeburgh Festival on 9 June 2013 at Orford Church, Suffolk by the New London Children’s Choir directed by Ronald Corp.

Scored for SSA with Piano accompaniment, On The Green incorporates words by the English romantic poet William Blake.
