Marco Ferrari has dedicated himself since 1978 to the study of the relationship between written music and oral tradition music, specializing in wind instruments.

He was artistic director for the music of the Ticino Festival.

He has taught clarinet at the Conservatory of Cesena and regularly holds workshops in France and at the Geneva Conservatory.
Collaborations with musicians and ensembles from Romania, Greece and Serbia, from the Egyptian, Lebanese and Maghreb Arabic tradition, earned him experience and openness towards musical cultures of oral tradition.
He founded and directed the ensembles Acantus and Sine Nomine. He currently heads Salon de musiques and Centotrecento. With these and other groups (Alia Musica in Milan, Cantigas in Paris, Pifarescha in Perugia) he gives concerts and makes recording in Europe, United States and South America.
