ANDERS KOPPEL
Works for Saxophone and orchestra
Benjamin Koppel, saxophone

Anders Koppel, composer

Odense Symphony Orchestra
Nicolae Moldoveanu, conductor

About
Anders Koppel is to a rare degree a composer of his time. With one leg solidly planted in the classical European musical tradition and the other in world music and rock/jazz, Anders Koppel’s activities as a composer can be seen as one long continuous effort to combine these cultures in a contemporary musical idiom. The saxophone concertos were both written for Anders
Koppel’s son Benjamin Koppel, who is one of the most wideranging saxophonists playing today.

Reviews

(Dansk Musik Tidsskrift, 10/2006)

Dacapo´s clear, vibrant recording balances the soloist and orchestra perfectly, enhancing an already enjoyable listening experience.

The music is colourful, tuneful, full of lively rhytms...splendidly negotiated by Benjamin Koppel and wholeheartedly supported by the Odense Symphony Orchestra...First class recording!
(Musicweb International)

... All three works are delivered with great skill and zest by Koppel Fils, with the excellent Odense Symphony Orchestra under Nicolae Moldoveanu. Cracking sound for an invigorating disc.
(Nordic Sounds, 12/2006)

Perfekt.
(Music Manual Vienna, 2006 / 2007)
