The choral works of Danish composer Per Nørgård (b. 1932) form a constant strand through the composer’s oeuvre and demonstrate the full spectrum of his art: from Nordic sounds, echoing Sibelius and Holmboe, to avant-garde and post-modernism – always coloured by his preoccupation with the organic, the multilayered and the drama of interference. This SACD release is an encounter with the incredible sounds of Nørgård’s choral music as interpreted by the 12 singers of Scandinavia’s leading vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen conducted by Tamás Vetö.
