Per Nørgård, composer

About
Per Nørgård is one of the most significant Danish composers after Carl Nielsen and Vagn Holmboe. With his original works, his teaching and his theoretical innovations, Nørgård has been the most striking musical Nordic personality for more than thirty years. He has written works of all sizes, from operas to simple choral songs. Since the ensemble Vocal Group Ars Nova was founded in 1979 it has co-operated closely with Nørgård on first performances and recordings of many of his choral works, and the present CD features new fruits of this collaboration between the composer and the ensemble.
Reviews
"The excellent Ars Nova Ensemble has been recorded in a sympathetic acoustic. A disc that all enterprising choirs and listeners schould investigate" (Gramophone)
"These works present many facets of Per Nørgård, but throughout runs a fascination with beauty of sound ... The performances are totally committed with clear diction in four languages, and exemplary intonation" ***** (BBC Music Magazine)
"Opførelserne er forførende smukke" (Politiken)
"The music, particularly when performed as well as it is here, is quite ravishly beautiful. This is compellingly good" ***** (Choir and Organ)
