IB NØRHOLM
Americana
Danish Chamber Players

Ib Nørholm, composer
Ars Nova Copenhagen
Tamás Vetö, conductor

About
Ib Nørholm is one of the most significant living Danish composers. With his contemporary colleagues Per Nørgård and Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen he guided Danish music into the post-war-avantgarde, and like the other two he abandoned the standard avant-garde techniques for a personal idiom which has since formed a model. Ib Nørholm is one of this century's most important Danish symphonists (to date he has composed ten very different symphonies), and he has also composed substantial music drama works. His vocal works brought melodic renewal to the Danish tradition in this genre.

Reviews
"Den tindrende rene og vidunderlig rigt nuancerede udførelse er en udelt fornøjelse" (Politiken)

"This is an interesting recording. The performances are impressive. The programme notes are exceptional; there is not much more information to be gleaned about these pieces that is not in the text. DaCapo are well ahead of the field in this area. They make interesting reading, help understanding of the works - in fact they turn us all into musicologists" (Classical Music on the Web)
