Simon Preston Toccata for solo organ. The starting-point for this work was the Toccata and Fugue in D minor ascribed to J.S. Bach. Simon Preston retains all the dramatic and virtuosic elements in his own piece, but frees it from the harmonic restraints of D minor. This exciting Toccata was composed for Sarah Baldock in 1998, and Tom Winpenny has recorded it on the organ of St Albans Cathedral.
