Originally written for flute, clarinet and orchestra, Saint-Saëns’s Tarantelle transcribes very effectively for flutes with piano. This arrangement uses the two outer sections, thereby making the piece more compact at a playing duration of about 4 minutes. The Tarantella, Italian in origin, is a fast, energetic dance and needs players who can play it with confidence at a lively speed.
