Café-concerts (or caf’conc’) were a form of popular entertainment in Paris in mid nineteenth and early twentieth century. Programs were made of music, dance, opera arias, songs, and circus performances. Among the usual musical fare at a caf’conc’ evening was the valse chantée, sentimental and tuneful, usually with racy lyrics. Je te veux was one these valse chantée, here in a version transposed for medium-low voice.
