This sparkling march is from the 1896 operetta 'The Gold Bug.' It was written by the military bandmaster/composer Victor Herbert, who is best remembered for his music from 'Babes in Toyland.' This arrangement is carefully scored by Mark Williams for bands with limited instrumentation. The delightful 'whistling' parts, played by flutes and clarinets, create an infectious, happy mood that both listeners and performers are sure to enjoy. (Grade 2)
