Poul Schierbeck (1888-1949) is the most important composer of popular songs in Denmark between Carl Nielsen and Otto Mortensen. The song for which he is by far the best known is I Danmark er jeg født. His output also includes large-scale art songs and song cycles. All of these are represented on this CD.
