Boris TCHAIKOVSKY
Cello Sonata (1957) for cello and piano

Mieczyslaw WEINBERG
24 Preludes Op. 100 for cello solo

Emil Rovner (Cello)
Alla Ivanzhina (Piano)

The disc's title is derived from the fact that Weinberg and Tchaikovsky, born six years apart, were not only close friends, but, literally, neighbors - they lived in the same apartment block in Moscow, off the famous Kutuzovsky Prospekt.

‘Emil Rovner is a kind of polymath of music’ (WDR 3). Born in 1975 in Gorky, Russia, the cellist and baritone has established himself as a compelling musician, commanding ‘flawless technical mastery’ (FonoForum) and expressive depth, as well as being a sought-after teacher and festival leader.
