Candide at the ENO

Robert Carsen’s award-winning new production of Bernstein's Candide follows the journey of a young man who is determined to follow his tutor’s philosophy of absolute optimism: "all is for the best in this best of all possible worlds".

His beliefs are severely challenged when he leaves the sheltered environment of his home to embark on an epic journey across 1950s America.

Based on Voltaire’s satirical masterpiece, Candide will be on at the English National Opera from 23rd June to 12 July. For more details, visit the ENO website.
