New Editions from Henle
The selection of new titles from Henle Verlag includes late piano works by Johannes Brahms, from the adventurous and dissonant Klavierstücke Op. 119 to the melancholic Fantasies Op. 116. Brahms also made arrangements for piano 4-hands of his final two symphonies, in order to promote them outside of the concert hall. Henle's edition is typically authentic.
The highlight of this selection must be the new edition of Mozart's Piano Sonata in A major, K. 331, based on a hitherto unknown manuscript that was discovered in autumn 2014. There are significant deviances from the musical text as we know it, to the extent that this new publication renders previous editions somewhat redundant.
