Little Piece of Gossip was commissioned by Geoffrey Morris and originated in a “workshop-like” atmosphere with him. After a two-hour session of interchange in requests on my part and responses from him, i.e.: “How do percussive sounds on the fingerboard work, what would happen if the approach we take be rock-related at times, what are the sharp attacks on the bottom string like, as well as what are the lyrical qualities of the instrument?” After a week or so I wrote a ca. five-minute piece, relating to this session and the musical idea behind it is quite naive-out of the “manic” rhythmic interplay there appears very simple lullaby, being prepared by chords popping up here and there. Special thanks to Geoffrey Morris for his help with performance notes and guitar specific notation.
