CME Institute courses in UK and Ireland

(September 2013)

The CME Institute for Choral Teacher Education  UK/Ireland announces 2013/14 courses.

Boosey & Hawkes is pleased to announce the UK CME Institute for Choral Teacher Education courses for 2013 – 2014. Scheduled in London, Edinburgh and Dublin throughout the year, these conducting courses are dedicated to the on-going professional development of conductors and teachers working with children and youth choirs in school, classroom and community singing programs.

CME choral teacher certification courses include the study of choral literature and conducting grounded in the core values of diversity, inclusion and social responsibility. The repertoire based course content includes voice education, score preparation and musical analysis, conducting, rehearsal pedagogy and performance practice. Course content is supported philosophically by Doreen Rao’s performance approach to music education -- grounded in the practice of awareness (mindfulness), the development of cultural sensitivity and an exploration of socially engaged musicianship (community service through singing).

For the first time, a sequenced series of four one-day course intensives will be offered in England, Scotland and Ireland throughout the year. The courses in London and Dublin will culminate in a non-competitive festival concert that engages the participant conductors and their choirs.

As a sponsoring partner with course leaders in all three countries, Boosey & Hawkes is pleased to support this professional development program for choral teachers committed to a future of choral music experience for all children and youth in UK and Ireland.
