Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) was the master of tango nuevo—the evolution of Argentinian tango music though the incorporation of instruments and harmonies from jazz and classical music.

Skilfully arranged for piano solo, or for either alto saxophone, trumpet, flute, clarinet or violin with piano accompaniment, Vuelvo al sur includes music from the soundtrack to the film Sur (Fernando Solanas) and extracts from the incidental music to El sueño de una noche de verano (A Midsummer Night’s Dream).
