The composer Georges Boulanger who had been regarded as a musical all-round talent during his lifetime and who died in Buenos Aires 50 years ago has been rediscovered in a modern way in recent years. Created in 1926 and interpreted by Glenn Miller among others, his successful serenade ‘Avant de Mourir’ (also known under the title ‘My Prayer’) has reappeared in today’s pop and film music.
At that time he was also known to be a highly gifted violinist and actor. He composed about 250 works for salon music, radio and records and developed an entertaining musical style which was a mixture of gipsy music, Balkan folklore and Viennese waltz.
This collection is published to mark the 50th anniversary of his death.
