Reviews

"This is a lovely cd. I bought it last year to help me choose pieces for my grade 7 exam and am still regularly listening to it now, with the exam well in the past. I'm not sure that the cd made the choice any easier - I wanted to play nearly all the pieces after hearing them. The performers, Louise Williams and David Owen Norris, are top-notch (and should surely be mentioned in the listings on the website) and it is a delight to hear these exam pieces played so beautifully. Without it I would never have encountered the pieces by Kalliwoda and Zinzadze which, along with Stamitz, I eventually chose for my exam, and which are both original pieces for the viola rather than transcriptions.
I am now contemplating grade 8, and am disappointed that there is not yet an equivalent cd for the new syllabus, despite many of the pieces being by quite obscure composers so that it is difficult to track down other recordings of them."
