One of the foundations of preparing the present textbook was to use the folk melodies as the practice material and to eliminate as much as possible a dry, too mechanical material, devoid of any musical content, boring and often discouraging the young person from further study. In agreement with the basic didactic principle I have preserved a progressive arrangement of the material in respect of difficulty and I have systematically introduced increasingly new theoretical problems.
